Food & Wine's Best Grilled Cheeses in the U.S. →
Abandoning all of my current goals and aspirations so I can focus on pursuing the consumption of every single one of these. (I’ve only had one of them so far.)
Suit up, kids, we’re headed to Cleveland.
PS - Grilled Cheese #21 is located in Big Sur and is thus MY POST-MARATHON DESTINY.

the perfect knitting project for winter... →
for someone who knows how to knit (in straight lines, and only in straight lines) but already owns entirely too many scarves

the only times when I wear pants to work
the temperature “feels like” something under 15 degrees
I have some sort of running (or, formerly, roller derby) injury that involves my leg being wrapped up and I don’t feel like explaining myself (though me not showing up in a skirt elicits enough inquiries to basically defeat the purpose)
I am the victim of a self-tanning incident

a non-comprehensive list of items for 2012
try some trail running (and not just because it means running slower)
do a triathlon and see if it’s really as fun as they say
though I am a huge fan of breathing at a calm and normal pace, get more comfortable with running uncomfortably fast on occasion (not just races)
conquer Big Sur (where the breathing will be neither calm nor normal thanks to the hills and not at all the speed),...

2011's aspirations: actual vs. real
Let’s check in on the things I thought I should be able to get around to doing this year and how I fared:
have Q104.3 play a Workforce Block of Fleetwood Mac in my honor - they did and I missed it
qualify for the Boston Marathon, ideally before the NYC Marathon, so I can actually enjoy that experience (insanity to even consider for a moment, and if they touch the 3:40 I currently need,...

this cookie dough dip is no joke →
Do yourself a favor and make this immediately, provided you have people whom to share it, because otherwise there is a serious chance you may sit down with a spoon and consume it all on your own.

slightly dated musical commentary I find the need...
“We Found Love” was made for dance-offs. Watch out, coworkers at my holiday party after I’ve had a few glasses of wine.
The censoring method of the radio edit to Marvin’s Room basically makes the song for me. The real version’s super inappropriate actual lyrics are a little too jarring.
I’m still working through the fact that (Solomon Schechter Day School of...

recipients of disproportionate amounts of anger...
people on the train who had seats but get up and try to get off the train (at the last stop) before the people who have been standing have a chance to move - shout out to the dude today who slithered out of his seat past me to get off before everyone else
the people at the one coffee cart at Broadway and Vesey who think it’s acceptable to line up blocking the sidewalk instead of off to the...

post-marathon priorities
Improv 201, provided I can get into an evening class and feel confident beginning-of-the-year work craziness won’t interfere with my attendance
donating blood and/or platelets (avoided during training because I’ve dramatically concluded it makes me all red-blood-cell depleted and weak)
swim lessons (for my impending career as a triathlete)
something makes me want to try CrossFit,...

all of the musical magic →
I was trying to figure out whether I had already posted a particular song here so I went over to trntbl.me to assess my past musical posts. I found it really astonishing how well what I have posted encapsulates the essence of the music I truly love (as shameful as it may be), probably better than any playlist in existence.
